YETI Moments

Growing up in Maine, I was a part of an outdoor group called Y.E.T.I. (Youth Expeditions to Ignite.) YETI aimed to give students a group of like-minded outdoorsy friends and mentors to be inspired by and learn from, volunteer with, and take multi-day canoe and snowshoe trips throughout the Maine wilderness with.

In this setting I was taught about the expression, “yeti moments,” which one of our mentors described as instances in time where everything feels right in the world. Small moments that regardless of circumstances good or bad, you can always return to and smile about, and perhaps share some great stories about human connection and experience.

I believe we all have a great opportunity to reconnect with folks around us by first remembering that we’re all a part of this human collective with our own unique stories, hopes and dreams. I hope you will find some joy and perhaps curiosity here with me, and I look forward to hearing about some of your special ‘yeti moments.’
